Mutriku is a pretty fishing village whose inhabitants historically made their livelihood by whale hunting. Originally walled in, today the town boasts a beautiful port and old quarter, declared a historical monument. It is one of the best-preserved medieval villages in the Basque Country. Mutriku is part of the Basque Coast Geopark, which features impressive views of coastal flysch formations, as well as numerous beaches, sea cliffs, and karst landscapes of great interest (Astigarribia, Olatz...). The town enjoys a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere and natural seawater pools.
